Fontainhas, o bairro latino
Fontainhas is the old Latin quarter of Panaji, Goa's capital. Its narrow lanes are lined with Portuguese-era houses painted ochre, indigo, red and green, with tiled roofs, carved balconies and blue-and-white azulejo name plaques by the doors.
From Rua de Natal you can stroll to the Chapel of St. Sebastian, the cafés and bakeries of the quarter, and the Mandovi riverfront. Groceries, pharmacies and restaurants are all within five minutes on foot.
